The village of Rosignano Monferrato is part of the “Monferrato of the Infernot”, which is included in the “Vineyard landscape of Piemonte: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato” UNESCO World Heritage site. The Infenots are underground wine cellars dug by hand in the Pietra da Cantoni stone, real works of art.
Start your visit at the chief village (Capoluogo), on the hill top. Breathe history and enjoy amazing and typical landscapes walking down the streets at the historic center, from Mellana and Rosignano castles to the churches of Sant’Antonio and San Vittore, from the Municipality building to the views of Monferrato from the Alps to the Ligurian Appennini along the natural balcony. In the vineyards not far from the historic center, near Madonna delle Grazie church, the Big Bench “Rosso Grignolino” (red Grignolino) is a not-to-be-missed stop for a selfie.
Rosignano Monferrato has a lot of typical hamlets, born through centuries of history: Uviglie and its castle; the places painted by Angelo Morbelli, one of the most important exponents of the Italian art movement called Divisionismo – a lot of reproductions of his works are placed from Uviglie to the hamlet of Colma and Villa Maria; Valle Ghenza area, whose meadows and thickets hide the precious white truffle and where some interesting panoramic paths start to the hamlets of San Martino and Stevani.
The scattered Farming Museum shows the agricultural heritage of the village and the area: about thirty equipment along the streets of Rosignano Monferrato.
